Do You Have a Claim Against the Maker of Celexa?

For many patients, Celexa provides benefits, but it also imposes very real costs. A member of a class of antidepressants known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), Celexa (citalopram) may elevate birth defect risk among children whose mother took Celexa during pregnancy, according to several medical assessments.

How serious are neonatal side effects? They vary, however, some children are believed to have suffered neural tube, heart, and pulmonary conditions as a result of in utero exposure. Perhaps most distressingly, a 2006 report determined that babies exposed to Celexa during the last trimester of pregnancy were six times more likely to have been born with persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN), a potentially fatal condition.

Do your child’s birth defects give rise a viable legal claim? For many families, this is an important question to ask – and to answer. Fortunately, the dedicated professionals at Fears Nachawati can advise you as to your legal rights and help you understand your options.
