FDA Expresses Concern about Paxil

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expressed concern about the safety of Paxil (paroxetine), citing medical research that Paxil is positively linked with a number of birth defects, particularly heart conditions. Specifically, these findings have given health professionals, patients, and the federal government’s primary health agency reason to believe that expecting mothers who take Paxil during the first trimester may inadvertently expose their developing fetus to harmful ingredients that could cause birth defects.
