In a newly filed civil action Yuri Gohen, a Pennsylvania Bucks county man, describes how his fingers were severely injured while he was using the table saw manufactured by the company Makita Corp. Gohen attests that the table saw design is flawed and led to this permanent and extremely serious injury he obtained from operating their product. Because of an ineffective blade guard—which is easily removed and not used by many consumers—and the lack of a riving knife—a device known to reduce or eliminate kickbacks of the wood—Gohen complains that Makita Corp. has designed a negligent product. He attests that although there is technology such as the SawStop (which detects human flesh and causes the blade to stop spinning immediately upon contact) Makita has failed to use any of these safety features in their products.
