One Step Closer: Matthew McCarley Appointed to the Texas Opioid Fee Committee

Dozens of municipalities across Texas have filed lawsuits against distributors and sellers of opioids. A settlement is still on the horizon, while a Texas Fee Committee was appointed on June 5, 2020 to determine fees and expenses that will soon be owed for the suits. This is a step closer towards helping those impacted by the opioid crisis. The committee will focus on an allocation plan that will establish procedures and make recommendations to the Court, ultimately holding opioid manufacturers and distributors accountable for their misconduct. This collaborative effort will benefit all of Texas in our fight against opioid abuse.

Fears Nachawati’s Matthew McCarley is one of those appointed to this committee. McCarley notes, “This crisis impacts all types of families in Texas – those from both cities and small farming communities. This committee will help us collaborate and get one step closer towards justice for those impacted in this fight against opioids.”
