Pregnant Prozac Patients: Know Your Rights

Doctors have prescribed Prozac to millions of Americans, including pregnant women. Sadly, however, the manufacturer of this potentially dangerous drug may have failed to adequately test the product or warn health care providers and patients about the risks associated with it.

Subsequent to its release into the market, medical testing has revealed that Prozac may be responsible for causing a number of birth defects in newborns, including a potentially fatal respiratory condition known as persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN). Based on the potential for harm, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) placed Prozac and a number of similar prescription antidepressants into Pregnancy Category C.
