Paxil’s Revised Label Requirements

In response to unanticipated birth defect risks associated with a particular class of antidepressants, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently required the maker of Paxil, a member of this class of drugs, to adopt more cautionary language for its label.

The FDA’s decision was an attempt to underscore the risks associated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Paxil. When regularly ingested by a pregnant woman, SSRIs have the potential to cause serious complications with her unborn child. Although perhaps the infamous, persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN) is just one of several adverse events related to SSRIs such as Paxil.

The research is clear that Paxil can be a dangerous and harmful drug. If you or your family have suffered as the result of a prescription antidepressant, you should speak to the attorneys and professionals at Fears Nachawati to learn if your legal rights were violated.
