Uber, Lyft Sexual Assault Litigation Heating Up

The rapid growth of rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft has come at a dire cost to the safety of passengers.

Drivers go through little, if any, training or background checks. Too often, that exposes passengers to dangers including sexual assault. As reports have increased, Uber, Lyft and other rideshare companies deny responsibility and instead attempt to shift the blame on drivers.

Nachawati Law Group is committed to holding rideshare companies accountable. Our trial lawyers have taken the lead in litigation now consolidated in federal multidistrict litigation. Our attorneys have built a reputation for excelling in complicated multidistrict litigation, and we look forward to obtaining justice for assault victims and to ensuring that these businesses do more to protect their riders.

Uber received about 3,800 reports of severe sexual assault in the U.S. in 2019 and 2020, but many more incidents go unreported. The cases involve a range of alleged conduct, from inappropriate comments to violent assaults, and are being brought under varying laws of different states.

We are working to hold these companies accountable for their failures to perform background checks and adequately train drivers or take basic safety measures like requiring drivers to use cameras in their vehicles.
